Get to know our Regional Business Partner, Greg Cahill


Tell us a bit about your journey in the insurance industry to where you are at CBN today…

I joined CGU Insurance in 2008 as an underwriter in regional Victoria, based out of the Bendigo office. I spent over ten years at CGU in various roles and departments, strengthening my understanding of the intermediated general insurance industry. Many of my years were spent managing the relationships between internal and external stakeholders in the distribution team.


I spent over two and a half years working as a senior general insurance broker in Melbourne. The combination of working as an insurance broker and underwriter has provided me with tools and capabilities to successfully become a regional business partner at CBN, servicing and managing the Victorian and Tasmanian Authorised Brokers.


How does CBN successfully empower authorised brokers to be their own boss?

CBN provides a plethora of back-end office support which allows our authorised brokers to focus on the insurance broking side of their business. Our HUB has a range of resources from business planning, development, marketing and much more, which allows our brokers in our network to stay ahead of the curve and grow their business with the support of their regional business partner. 


How does CBN differ from other authorised networks?

What are three top tips you can give to ARs about running their own business?

  • Have a business plan & set measurable goals. Having well defined goals allows you to take control of your business direction.  
  • Make use of your CBN Regional Business Partner. 
  • Time management is key! Schedule time into your diary for reviews, debtors, follow-ups, personal development.  


What are three interesting facts about yourself?

  • I am a massive Chelsea FC and English Premier League fan  
  • I love to travel all around the world  
  • In my spare time I enjoy skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing.  


Share one of your favourite success stories

I started at CBN in November, and we were nearing the end of a large project that involved CBN acquiring a large insurance portfolio. During this time I was able to work closely with the onboarding broker and their staff. 


Following the transition, it was exciting to see the brokerage’s team invigorated with a renewed sense of enthusiasm, and optimism for the futureJoining CBN gave them an identity, brand, and ultimately something to be proud of
